i know it seems a bit random but we were just talking about differant contrys names in english i was wondering how we could get Germany out of Deutschland ? i mean spain from espana or france from france (lol) makes sense but Sweden from Svenska is a bit off too, and i just wonderd what japanese for japan was.

I think it's "Nihon." Correct me if i'm wrong.

i don't see "Japan" in that word....

well german in german is duetsch so deutschland is germany, the land of germans, my mom explained that to me once when i was young when i asked her

DarkerShadow- 09-18-2006
eh i still dont get it if duetsch is german for german what the hell does german mean?

dr. faust- 09-19-2006
meh, some countires are odd like that i guess. i guess you would have to ask a person who lives in germany[SIZE=1][SIZE=1][SIZE=1][SIZE=1][SIZE=1][SIZE=1]

DarkerShadow- 09-19-2006
aye i guess so *goes to look for a german person*

dr. faust- 09-20-2006
wellim part german, but you need to find a person who speaks it fluently and all. if only my friend was here instead of in another state

blueboy- 09-20-2006
well the japanese actually say Nippon. Nippon is the word for the land Japan. Nihon is like... uh... things from Japan. Like Nihon-jin which means Japanese people in Japanese haha.

DarkerShadow- 09-20-2006
haha awsome thanks thats summert else i can add to my vocabulary

dr. faust- 09-21-2006
wow, now that movie i saw with nippon as the title makes more sense now. it was set in japan i guess. or gould have been a lie. i hate food network >.<

Symphony_572- 09-22-2006
asking a german what "german" means might not solve the problem though. I'm 100% Chinese, but we call china "Zhong Guo" which looks nothing like "china" and "china" doesn't mean anything.

gah! languages are sooo confusing!

Symphony_572- 09-23-2006

yeah true. well we Koreans (yes I am a korean) call Korea Han Gook. well Korea is called "Korea" in english because of our most famous uh.. i think dynasty or period (i don't know which) called Koryo. It was teh most prosperous time and the English ppl came and pronounced it as Korea (bloodyrain/sleep.png they suck at pronounciations... no hard feelings guys lol)
