Yeah, that's right, the title says it all. I know that it's not anything special but sometimes one needs such an outlet to let off some steam. Who knows, there might be a hidden philosopher within us...

I'll start:
A few years ago when I was browsing on the net cos I was bored off my ass in my uni (suffice to say, I do that at my current job) I decided to do some nostalgia searching. You see, I used to live in San Diego, California, USA for 12.5 years before I returned to Indonesia then Australia (for uni) then back in Indonesia (working, don't ask me to speak Indon, cos I only know passively). Anyways, I wanted to check up on that famous Orca, Shamu, from Sea World. Lo and behold I found out that it was a stage name used for ALL the Orcas performing in front of the audience. So in other words, different Orca, same name. Imagine being fooled for years as a kid. After that discovery my life became totally disillusioned.

So, that's one of the many dumb things to come outta my head.

ummm... phoenix, ansOrca is a kind of whale. Shamu is the name of the whale in Sea World in California, USA.

Thanks for giving that reply to Phoenix. Sorry I forgot, haven't been feeling well lately. If you want to know more what an Orca looks like just type the word in a search engine.

First and foremost, it has been previously explained, an Orca is a whale. It's previous name is Killer Whale. But in the biological society, they do not want to imply that this animal is a sadistic maniac of the ocean so they decided to drop the name "Killer Whale" and opt for "Orca" instead. They do this in order to conserve the species and not to have society misunderstand the true nature of the animal by its name (i.e. they think that Killer Whale means that they're very dangerous and kill anything and everything in sight). They have done this to some other species such as the Painted Dog in Africa which used to be called the Wild Dog, in order that people will not kill the species due to its name.

Secondly, Shamu is just a freakin' stage name they use for all the Orcas used in the Orca show at Sea World. That could explain why over 20 years that it's still alive and kicking. Conspiracy? You be the judge.

Third, I have to ask of you, how can u have so much free time to send over 280 messages in the forums?

1. An Orca used to be known as a Killer Whale. Contrary to its old name, many people thought that this is a homicidal whale of the ocean. It is not. The reason for the name change by the biological community is to prevent society's misunderstandings. Hence, conserving the species. Another example is the Painted Dog in Africa which used to be called the Wild Dog. Cos of the name "Wild Dog" people have hunted this species down to near-extinction thinking it would stalk and hunt people down when in fact, it never harmed anybody (I think).

2. Shamu is just a freakin' stage name for all the Orcas used in show. Which could explain why over 20 years, that this whale is still alive and kickin'. FYI, the real Shamu lived in the 1960's or 1970's and is dead. God rest his blubbery soul....

err,not really much actually...it's just that i often search stuff for school homework on the internet so after i got what i'm looking for,i just sneak here (i'm gonna die if my mom finds out ) and i can do it almost everyday since there are so many homework [huh!when will the teacher understand how tired is their students and not giving so much homework again???] so without searching-for-school-homework reason, i could never post that much,hehehehe...
